Sky News Google Play page defaced
Sky News seems to have a habit of letting its credentials escape into
the outside world, apparently letting the Syrian Electronic Army get
its paws on its Google Play admin account.
As a result, it's had the embarrassment of having the Sky News app screenshots in Google Play replaced with an announcement that “The Syrian Electronic Army Was Here”.
To rub salt into the wound, the company's help desk Twitter account was also taken over to send out a message stating “Both Sky+ and SkyNews Android apps were replace, please uninstall”. However, that claim may have exaggerated the extent of the attack, since it seems more likely at this stage to be a case of the SEA putting its graffiti on the Google Play store page for the Sky News apps.
The account takeover also included redirecting the developer help e-mail account to the SEA.
It's not the first time Sky News has been embarrassed by being careless with security. Earlier in May 2013, one of its Twitter accounts was compromised to post “Colin was here”. In 2009, a Web petition being run by the broadcaster was defaced.
The Register has contacted Sky News seeking further information on the attack, but has yet to receive a response. ®

Hackers Target Thai P M Yingluck With Online Insult
Hackers infiltrated the website of Thai Prime Minister
Yingluck Shinawatra's office on Wednesday, posting offensive comments in the
latest attack on her character.
The words "I'm a slutty moron" appeared briefly alongside a picture
of a smiling Yingluck, followed by "I know that I am the worst Prime
Minister ever in Thailand history!!!". It was signed by "Unlimited
Hack Team".
The government quickly shut down the website and warned the perpetrators they faced tough punishment if caught.
"It might have been done by some teenagers ... or maybe it was for political purposes," said the prime minister's secretary-general, Suranand Vejjajiva.
"Hacking a website is easy... but don't forget that checking who did it is not hard either," he told reporters.
"If we find them, they will be charged under the computer crime act," he said, referring to a contentious law that rights groups say is sometimes used to muzzle online dissent.
The incident comes days after Yingluck filed a defamation case against a cartoonist for allegedly comparing her to a prostitute on his Facebook page.
Chai Rachawat, a cartoonist for a prominent daily newspaper, posted pictures of Yingluck accompanied by the words "... a prostitute is not an evil person, the hooker only sells body. But an evil woman sells the nation".
His post apparently took aim at the premier's appearance at a democracy forum a day earlier in Mongolia where she gave an unusually fiery speech condemning the 2006 coup that toppled her brother Thaksin as premier.
Since then debate has flared over what is an acceptable level of criticism of the premier, who won a landslide election victory in 2011, becoming Thailand's first female premier.
The kingdom has been riven by political divisions since the 2006 coup, with a series of rival street protests.
About 90 people were killed and nearly 1,900 were wounded during mass pro-Thaksin rallies in Bangkok in 2010, mostly during a military crackdown

YouTube, Gmail, Google, Intel Turkmenistan Sites Defaced by Iranian Hackers
Users from Turkmenistan who have attempted to access websites such as YouTube.tm, Gmail.tm, MSDN.tm, Intel.tm, Xbox.tm, Orkut.tm or Google.tm over the past few hours have been greeted with a defacement message posted by hackers.
Cyber News reports that this is the work of Iranian hackers.
The sites themselves have not been breached. For all we know, many of the domains might not even be actively used.
The hackers have actually penetrated the systems of nic.tm, the administrator of the .TM top level domains.
The attackers claim they’ve identified an SQL Injection vulnerability in nic.tm, which has allowed them to steal and leak all the user credentials stored in the company's databases.
Besides leaking the data, the hackers have also gained access to DNS records. By altering them, they’ve been able to redirect the visitors of the aforementioned websites to their own domain.

Israel MSN, Bing, Skype, Live and Intel Defaced by Pakistani Hackers
After Anonymous declared a war on the Israeli internet, a separate group of apparently Pakistani hackers has defaced at least two Microsoft-run websites. Visiting the Israeli versions of MSN and Bing brings up an anti-Israel diatribe
Defaced page said: I am writing on the behalf of all Pakistani and all Muslims. Your war on GAZA will make you cry blood and let the next few days prove that you!
The Israeli Skype website, meanwhile, is unavailable. Though the ideological justification is similar, this doesn't appear to be related to #OpIsrael, an Anonymous-affiliated offensive meant as payback after Israel threatened to cut off internet access in Gaza. Instead, it's credited to a number of hackers, including ZombiE_KsA and the Pakistan Cyber Army.

The hackers also mock a statement from Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, who recently said the country’s security systems have been very effective at blocking cyber attacks. He told the media on Sunday that 44 million hacking attempts have been made on Israeli government Web sites since Wednesday and that so far only one was taken down, but was up and running after 10 minutes of downtime. Steinitz was quoted by Reuters as saying:
